As many of you may have noticed, The Shield made a large error in last week’s issue. Mayoral candidates Lloyd Winneke and Rick Davis were incorrectly labeled. This was a complete oversight by The Shield and was in no way intentional.

As our mission statement says, “The student press is a means of bringing student concerns to the attention of the faculty and the institutional authorities and of formulating opinions on various issues on the campus and in the world at large.” We strive to bring our readers accurate information and when we make these errors we find them just as irritating as you do. The Shield will be implementing stricter fact checking policies to ensure that this sort of oversight doesn’t happen again.
