It has come to my attention that the weekend hours of operation for on campus restaurants are just simply inadequate.
As college students, we are hungry almost every hour of the day.
I’m not proposing these places operate on a 24 hour schedule, I’m just saying that they should stay open later.
As a student living on campus, my cabinet primarily consists of Easy Mac, ramen noodles and not much of anything else.
I cannot even begin to count the number of times I’ve been hungry on the weekends, looking for something other than some type of noodle to squelch my hunger.
As far as weekday hours go, all places except for Pete’s Arena Pizza seem to be pretty reasonable.
What I have a problem with is the weekend hours of operation.
On Saturdays, newly opened Salsa Rico opens up at 2 p.m. in UC East.
Sub Connection is the only place on the main level of the UC open on Saturdays and it does not open until 3 p.m.
Burger King is not open at all on Saturdays, but opens at 4 p.m. on Sundays.
I’m almost forced to narrow out most of the on campus choices because they are either not yet open or not open at all on weekends, like Cyclone Salad.
Now, I do keep in mind that many foods can also be purchased inside the C-store. However, the C-store does not open until the afternoon on the weekends either.
I know it is a rough time for the economy right now, but students paying for an on campus meal plan should get to have more than one choice (The Loft) when it comes to weekend dining before the late afternoon.
